Here’s another track I did. This is from, roughly, shortly before the turn of the century. It is 3 tracks, I believe, done quick-like as is my preference.

stars of silent radio - vapor

Despite all the best of intentions, there’s been a conspicuous absence. That will change. In the interim, keep abreast of some of what I listen to by checking out my last.fm page. It’s not all that accurate, as quite a bit of my listening comes via my palm TX, for which there are sadly no scrobbling plugins. It almost makes me want to get an ipod just for the scrobbling. And, certainly, if you are a last.fm user, let me know.

Oh Yes,

I had something to say. I’ve had some enjoyable listens of late and thought I share some of ‘em.

Bee Gees' 1st album (cover)
Over the years, I’ve heard mention of the Bee Gees first album, but had never heard it; confessedly my knowledge is limited primarily to Saturday Night Fever-era tracks–many of which are enjoyable in their own right, but last summer I picked up a rather scratchy, but fully playable copy of it. I’m only just now getting around to listening to it and am quite enjoying it. I never knew “To Love Somebody” was a Bee Gees track. They were still teenagers when they recorded this album, returning to England after having spent a few years in Australia where they had their own TV show.

Here’s a couple of songs from the Bee Gees’ 1st:
Bee Gees - Turn of the Century
Bee Gees - New York Mining Disaster

There’s always the question of that first track–the one you start the mix off with, the one that sets the groove for what’s to come. Who should I pick as the first little nugget to share with you? Well, rather than pick something you might’ve heard, I’ll go with something you most likely have not heard. Don’t think that it’s indicative of what’s to come. Or do, because it probably is.

stars of silentradio - open mind night pt. 2

This is something I recorded at an open mic night at Club Helsinki ’round january, 2002 or so. It is the second half of a fifteen minute set. For the geargeeky of you, here’s how the sounds were made. I massaged a 1/4″ patch cord which was plugged into an electrix filter factory which fed an electrix mo-fx which fed a digitech rds8000 which fed a digitech rds7.6 which fed a digitech rds7.6 which fed a digitech studioquad with a deep reverb patch. These were in a big 8 space rack box kindly made and given to me by doug. There were a good 7 or 8 people who didn’t go out to smoke during my set. I thank them. and peter–the sound guy who didn’t have much choice, but I’m pretty sure enjoyed it all the same.

So I figured why not hop in the game?

Don’t expect deep analysis or the most obscure mix of some acetate found at a tag sale in upper lowerdom. But, what you’ll find is stuff I like or am stuck on at any given moment.

I hope you enjoy what you find here and let me know what you think. of whatever. And, please, support the artists if you like what you hear. Buying records is fun.
